Soon after I started training, I heard a coach talking about when she peaked. Ever since then I’ve been paranoid about when that time would come for me, and whether I would even know it! But I’ve come to realize that progress isn’t always defined in the same way over time, and that as long as I’m working, progress in some form is practically inescapable.
My progress no longer looks like getting a new trick every day, nor do I want it to. My goals have changed and so has my progress. Now it looks like dancing through transitions, it looks like developing a movement quality, it looks like learning the industry and how to function professionally within it.
I still adore challenging myself with new skills, but I also enjoy feeling at peace with what I’ve accomplished so far.
So consider this your reminder that your progress is unique to you. There are so many different and equally valuable ways to improve and flourish!
What does progress mean to you?
